Sub Floor Questions....

Hi

The Home Was built in 1989

I'm planning on Re-doing the Bathroom

I'm using schluter ditra with 13x13 unicom starker porcelain tiles

The Sub-floor is only 1/4(Plywood-OSB Board)Can't tell because from in the Basement looks like OSB board but in the bathroom looks like Plywood

It squeaks in some parts, also the Idiot that put the floor down missed the Joist like crazy.

What do I use OSB TG or Plywood TG ,what is the minimum thickness I need to lay down to Code for Ontario CDN.

Do I rip the old 1/4 up or try and screw it down and place the new OSB Board or plywood down over that.

I heard something about glue but don't know if it's Wood Glue or liqiud nails

What do I need to do with the Joists for support too....

Also the Toilet drain do I cut that out and re-install later or just leave it and use 2-3 Wax rings when putting the toilet back down.

Any help would be great

Your floor may be OSB topped with 1/4" luan

Here are some links to DIY Bathroom Remodel

Well thanks for the info

But that link doesn't work

Do you know if 3/4 plywood should be use or OSB 3/4 joists are 16" on center.

Also do I remove the floor or just lay the new PD/OSB over top

Sorry, try this Link:
http://www.diychatroom.com/search.php?searchid=949643
Note this is from a search of the DIY Chatroom using "Bathroom Remodel" as the keyword(s) in 'search titles only' This link will only last a short time, so I would suggest that you save a screen shot of the titles or just repeat my search. There are a lot of good tips in those topics.

First rip out all that OSB, lots of Bathroom Floors are OSB but the strongest floor that I have used is Sturd-I-Floor:

Before tile I would top it with "Red Guard"
