Silcone Grout Sealer

I had a new shower tiled and they used Mapei Ultracolor Plus for the grout. I understand this is a very good grout, resists mold/mildew and is even approved for swimming pools and spas. The tile company said it wasn't necessary to seal it. But when I read the Mapei product document it started that the grout "may be sealed with a penetrating silicone-based sealer".

Does anyone have any experience with the Ultrcolor Plus with regards to sealing it? Aqua Mix Sealers Choice Gold seems to get the highest ratings, but I don't think it's a silicone sealer. I searched online for recommended silicone based grout sealers but couldn't find any.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can give.

Silcone Grout Sealer

That grout should be sealed. I see no reason why it has to be silicone sealer. The newer sealers do not identify themselves as silicone, although they might be. Any good quality sealer should be fine, if in doubt call Mapei. I think their wording mentioning silicone may be old script.
