remove hardened thin set from ceramic tile

I removed several 16" ceramic tiles that were loosened from the floor by a few kitchen floods. Half the thin set remained adhered to the underside of the tiles. I am now trying to remove the thin set from the underside of the tiles so I can re-use them. How do you remove the hardened thin set without breaking the tile?

I suggest a belt sander with 50 grit paper----support the tiles well and don't let them get hot from the sander.

An angle grinder with a diamond cup will also do---but might be to expensive for one project.

Thanks Oh'Mike for your suggestion. Will try the 50 grit right away. I'm sure it will beat the tedious chisel-chipping (4 hours per tile).
