Quality $1 Tile from Home Depot?

What is the general concensus about the $1 tile that I see at Home Depot and Lowes. I saw both 12 x 12 and 16 x 16. Is it worth trying to use this for a bedroom or living room?

I wasn't sure if these are items from last year and thus discounted, or if they are just priced lower but similar characteristics to slightly more expensive tile, such as $2 or $3.

For me the styling looks ok, but not sure about the longevity. It will be placed on a cement slab foundation.

Correct me if I'm wrong floor people but, I think you can find the quality level or grade on the box. 2 is poor 3 is ok and 4 is probably the best you're going to see at a non specialty store.

?.. I don't think that's all true unless a certain brand puts numbers on like that.
Buying at home depot is ok for a home owner if you set tile for a living then no it wont work out in your favor in the long run.

More important than the tile, is how they're set.

I've put down a lot of the kind of tile you're talking about, and they're fine. No, they're not going to stand up under extreme conditions, but if you're not installing them for industrial application, you're okay.

There are several types of tile at or under $1. I don't think the website has them, so maybe they are overstocked items. Interceramic was one brand they had. It doesn't seem like they will crack very easy so if the style is ok, I would rather pay $1 vs $2.

I did see one comment that the grout might not end up smooth if you buy cheaper tile. I wasn't sure why, but maybe the edge is not sharp or matched well between tiles.
