paint on stone countertop

In preparing for the install, we are trying to cover 2x2 glazed ceramic tile.
The recommended product is Weather Shield Flex and it does adhere very well, but does not fill in the grout lines. Can anyone suggest a solution, please? After installing 3 coats of Flex, we are considering covering the tile with plywood.
