Newbie! How to tile Bathroom!!!

I wanna put in a new tub and then tile the walls - not the floor

The hardware store said to remove the drywall where the tub is and then put up cement board, then put tile over that board.

is that it?

Basically YES!
The studs should be covered with a vapor barrier of plastic before the wallboard is installed, or a liquid waterproofing can be used on the surface of the wallboard eliminating the plastic vapor barrier.

plastic over the studs, cement board and then tile?

I'm a little confused about right/wrong way to tile...I thought you just lay each tile in, use the seperators and keep going...

gonna use a bigger tile...should I go right to the ceiling? Actually that would be prettty dumb...maybe just as high as the shower nozzle

thanks

I suggest that you look at some pictures of tiled showers ---books --magazines and even google images.

Most showers are tiled all the way to the ceiling ---How you do it is a matter of style--

There's a little bit more to it than that.
I'd suggest checking out Bud's blog.

Great info on this page, but now I AM MORE CONFUSED

I don't know which way to go with so many options.

If cement board sweats and mortar bleeds through then the only thing I have is my vapour barrier acting as my "waterproofing"

Can't help with the confusion. You've read the current information, make some decisions. If you have specific questions...ask away. Keep in mind this is a how-to type website not a place to go for therapy sessions.
