New tyle grout 2 weeks old is too low between tiles

Can I go over grout (2 weeks old) to bring the grout up to tile surface? In my opinion, the installer did not install enough to begin with. this project was done by my wife and her hired help while I was out-of-town, I was not too pleased when I got home.. The floor is not sealed as of yet. CONTU:::: 12x12 ceramic surface tiles over cement board and helper DID NOT use sanded grout w/ tile joints apx 1/4" width. Debth veries but overall I would say grout is apx. 3/16" deep from tile face.

Don't you just hate it when the helpers mess things up like that? I hate helpers that don't know what they are doing and can't be trusted to complete a job correctly. Even when I am there supervising and directing them.

Best bet is to remove the grout(I Hope the room isn't to big) and regrout, using the proper grout.

A Multi tool is a great aid in doing the grout removal--Try the carbide grout blade--or the Diamond--

Harbor Freight has a couple of models--and their blades are 1/2 the price of the other companies.

Good luck and have fun---Mike---

Thanks for the input, I suspected that there was only one solution to this problem. Sad thing though ,,, this "helper" my wife got was a housing contractor for several years, till 2008. Mom said, "I thought he'd do a good job and I wanted to surprise you." I was surprised all right. I had a sugestion for her. Let me do the "remodeling" on MY schedule, and with MY people, when you get the urge to remodel ,,, Go and plant flowers, we'll both be a lot happier... She agreed.
