You are going to need to tape that---

Use aluminum foil duct tape or window flashing tape---or cover the entire inside of the shower with heavy plastic.

It'll look like hell but will keep the water inside the tub.

Tile and grout (all of it) is not water proof----that is why the wall behind your tiles has rotted away---those 'loose' tiles are only there because of the remaining grout---you have nothing behind them but rotten drywall.

Caulk won't do it---it's to late----cover the walls with plastic or tape until you can add a new waterproof surround---sorry---no quick fix when the wall has reached the point of damaging the room below---Mike---

tape up a heavy plastic skirt 2 tiles up from the tub edging like that ice rubber sheet suggested couple of inches into the tub all the way around......if the sheet rock is powder to the touch it is going to have to be ripped out and what is going on behind the tub as the water runs down...forget about caulking it...
