Mixing two different colors of grout together?

I will finish laying the tile tomorrow, so Sunday I will be grouting. I have not found a color that I like for my tile. Sure would like opinions on mixing two different colors together?? Same Brand.

Mixing two different colors of grout together?

Never tried it but that should work just fine.

I suggest that you weigh the powders so you could duplicate the mix if needed.--Mike---

And knowing me--I'd get a perfect color---then an emergency call after I'd mixed the whole thing-----then never get the exact color again!

Mixing two different colors of grout together?

Yup, ever trying to match two pre-mixed grout colors together to get even a close match a second time and make sure you mix enough together for the job this first time.

Have you considered starting with raw grout and colorants and doing the color yourself? Same issue though. You have to write down your formula if you need it again and hope the grout compenents are the same, etc.

Don't do it.
Not at all a good idea.

Why?

I mean, yes you can do it, and it will "work," but you'll never be able to duplicate it. Also, grout is not particularly expensive.

Mixing two different colors of grout together?

I was just on my way to go get the grout and additive and took a minute to check if there were any new answers. I see some think it is a bad idea to mix colors, and you know who you are. If I mix enough to do the floor I am not sure why I would need more in the future. Grout popping out????? If I laid the floor properly with durarock etc. I dont think that should happen or can it?? What is the shelf life of sanded grout still in powder form??

When I learned to tile my teacher told me I should always use the entrance to the room as the reference point for the layout. I did read Bud's blog and with all the ins and outs in the room I am dealing with I did go ahead and use my entrance (sliding mirror doors) and worked out from there. Just curious opinions as to how it turned out??? Since it is done (except for the grout, lol) I will not change it, but for future reference I would like to see if I could have improved on the layout???????? Thanks

Powders are ruined by humidity----Kept dry in a sealed container they should be fine for a long time.

I don't trust any powders that are stored in an unconditioned space---I've had powders go bad in a week in my truck during the rainy season.
