Matching old/new hardwood

Hello, I was given some hardwood that matches my current hardwood and I. Want to install it in my dining room which is carpeted. But since the hardwood ends at the dining room and I have a straight edge where the hardwood ends, does anyone have some thoughts on how I can install it so it doesn't look like it was done after the fact and blends into the old hardwood pattern?

thanks
