Marble fireplace surround

What is the difference between thin set mortal and thin set with latex additive? I am trying to install marble top header for my marble fireplace surround that broke. i don't want this set to break again.

The difference isn't great enough to correct what you are doing.

Are you applying thinset to the tile and then thinking you can slap it on the wall and it's going to stick and stay? Is that correct?

Yes, the marble seller said I should apply the thin set and slam it on the wall, that it would stay, so I want to be sure they are right. Or what is the best way to go about it. It's only the header part of the marble surround that broke. I bought the piece and trying to fix it back on the marble fireplace surround. The mable company told me thin set mortal. I checked online now I saw thin set with latex additive so I want to be sure which is the best to use? Thanks a lot for any help.

Yow well he's an IDIOT and as you have seen just as wrong as he can be.

"Slam it on the wall". Is that his words or yours?

You don't learn from your mistakes do you? Maybe neither is best in this case.

Why don't you throw up a photo here so we can see what it is you think you want to do.

What exactly is this marble piece you are trying to install? Let's see a picture.
