Installing CBU with Marble threshold...

how wide should the threshold be, should it extend to the rough opening studs on each side of the door and the door sit ontop, or should it stop on each side where the door jambs will be? Then the door just goes on top and whereever I have to cut the door to make it sit level, I do?
