I know this is a personal preference issue but I am undecided about how much of my new basement bathroom to tile. The whole room is 5x9 with the shower at one end taking up 3'. I will tile the shower walls of course... maybe six feet up? Or are most of you going all the way to the ceiling?
And what about the rest of the bathroom - the 5x6 area with the vanity and toilet - whats in style now - to tile this area or paint it? Cost isn't really a factor with a bath this small. The floor of the main bath area will be 12" tiles on the diagonal. I want the room to look nice but if I tiled everything is noise an issue? Would all those hard surfaces amplify sounds? Would it look too commercial or institutional?
we're having ours done now - knock'd out the old tub laying tile from floor to ceiling,,, new tile on the rest of the floor w/frameless shower enclosure ( OUCH ! ) but, at least, its not the apron store look
my bride, nagzilla, is using some fancy kind of paint on the walls ( base color & 4" wallboard knife to spread the top coat ),,, do NO let your bride read those magazines as nothing good can come of it
