Which grout do I use?

Do I use sanded grout as my spaces between the tiles is approx. 1/4 inch?

Is there a better brand than others? I assume they come in standard colours and I would have to use the one that is closest to my tile?
Is there a way of making it the colour that I want?

So many questions........

Thanks

Sanded grout for anything over 1/8". Polymer modified grouts have some flex to them so usually last better. It can be any color you want, although custom colors can get pricey. It does not have to be the same color as the tile, and often is not.

I had a woman last year the selected a white tile, with white grout. I questioned this, but the customer is always right. Once down she saw what I was talking about, no contrast at all. I ended up staining the grout.

i'm in agreement with Bill, i did 4" white squares and used BLACK grout to accent them. (grout lines never get 'dirty' either! lol)
play with different colors! you'll find one to compliment your tiles, i'm sure. Po)
can't wait to see pics!

Thanks for your help guys. There is a grout that is called Polyblend that has a colour that is similar to the one that I think would look good with the tiles.

I was thinking of getting the colour very close to the tile so that it would not show all my mistakes.......

DM I will take some pictures when I am done completely. I have made some mistakes, but have learned quite a bit from doing this tiling project.
I am hoping that the next large room will look much better.

close is better than exactly the same. either lighter or darker, i'd think you want some contrast.
it shows it off better IMHO.
did you chip some edges?

No, I did not chip any edges, but at the beginning when I was not very good at putting on the thinset, they are not exactly even. It is safe to say that I have some lippage........
