Granite tile on sheetrock?

Hi was wondering if it was ok to apply granite tiles to drywall instead of cement board? The granite will not be in a bathroom where moisture can be a problem.

If you are thinking mastic, research the type.

We had white granite that our Company was using mastic to apply to drywall and it bled through 1/2" granite and left oily looking spots on all of it.

Maybe make sure granite is sealed on back?

Don't you dare do that.

Use the proper thin set as Joe mentioned.
