Fireplace hearth tile question

I had a tile from my 1980's fireplace hearth come loose along with the surrounding grout. The grout looks grey...almost like it may be mortar instead of grout. Is that right? If this is mortar, what is the best way to reapply? I've laid tile but, never with mortar.

Thanks!

Fireplace hearth tile question

It's gonna be hard to find the products you need in small amounts. You need a cupful of thin set mortar to adhere the tile, and a small amount of natural gray sanded grout.

Normal size bags are #50 for the thin set and #10 & larger for grout. They make them smaller, but hard to find and not much cheaper.

I can't tell if the tile is soft bodied or dense frost proof, (can't see the back). Safe to get modified thin set, good for both.
