Cutting ceramic tile away from bathtub

I am remodeling and don't want to remove tub. My problem is that I am going to put new tile on the tub surround and I need an effective way to cut the tile near the tub edges without destroying the finish on the edges. The tile is currently laid under the tub lip. I plan to put new tile up to the lip after removing all of the current tile. What is the best tool to use. A grinder with a ceramic tile wheel? Could be hard to control etc.
Suggestions.

Cutting ceramic tile away from bathtub

Tom,
are you talking about a soaking or whirlpool tub mounted on a wooden deck? If the tub is mounted on top of the tile like you describe, I would consider disconnecting the plumbing and raise the tub up, or take it out completely and remove the tile. As long as the tub wasn't set in a bed of mortar, it should come out easy enough with a couple of people. Pictures would help.
