Covering a brick chimney


Hi, I am new to this forum and hope I am posting correctly. My husband and I have a brick chimney that we are trying to cover. i want to go with tile and wants to do stone covering....can someone tell us the pros and cons of either.

Is the existing brick solid and secure? Is this in the interior?
