Cover up ugly 1980s tile with wide grout

We have these 12x12 beige tiles with 1" grout. It is bad, ugly and needs to be covered. We don't want to do a floating floor or anything as we don't to spend a lot of money on a house that will probably be torn down because of all the problems

What can I do to these tiles to make them look better? Is there maybe something like plaster / liquid / cement type of product I can just pour over and lay it down giving it a new look? Is paint my only option? If so what brand is the best for high traffic areas that won't peel.

Paints never going to stay stuck to the tile.
I'd just live with it if the house is really that bad.

Yeah if the house is that bad, why work on it?

But there's tons of very cheap floating floors. Under $1 a square foot.
