ceramic tile over existing tile
Hi, I have a question about installing ceramic in a bathroom. The room is 5x9. My original plan was to go over the old tile with new. The old tile is solid, flat, and over a mud bed. The problem that came up is that I removed the old tub because of leaks and found some of the 3/4 floor planks rotted. I had to replace them under the tub and had to go 1 full board into the existing tile. SoI had to remove 7" of the old tile and mud. I cut it out pretty clean with a diamond blade. So now I'm left with a void about 7' wide 3' deep to fill in next to the tub. What should I fill this in with and if cement how do I get it th bond to the side of the old tile and mud that was cut? what do I do to avoid this seam as a potential cracking area? Thanks Greg
