Broken Wall Mount Ceramic Soap Dish

I have a wall mount soap dish that's broken.

There is a place I believe that sells something like this 70s style ceramic soap dishes. May be I can find a match.

Now assuming I can find a match, what is the best way to repair this?

I assume this is just laid in thinset like a normal tile?

If I take an angle grinder with a diamond blade, score the four edges of this thing, I am hoping with a chisel I can dig out the whole thing right?

Broken Wall Mount Ceramic Soap Dish

The approach you describe sounds like a good plan. However, as I look at the picture it looks like the soap dishes are larger than the tiles behind them? They appear to mounted to the surface of the tile? If this is the case they may have been installed with construction adhesive, epoxy or something. Something like a multi-tool or thin cold chisel slipped between the tile and soap dish might be the tool of choice. If you break the tile you may find yourself having to replace the tile and the soap dishes.

Thanks.

That is what is difficult to tell, whether it was installed OVER existing tiles, or whether it has a "lip" like these.

So these have a smaller area behind the dish that fits into a tile space.

in my experience = bingo.

i would remove it as if it were an actual tile.
