big or little?

If my bathroom floor is less than ideally stiff, would small tiles or big tiles be more forgiving? We're talking about an 8' X 8' room.

Neither. Get the floor shaped up, if at all possible.

I flexing subfloor will cause the mortar between the tiles to fail and/or the tiles to crack whether little or big.

If you don't want to reinforce the floor consider sheet vinyl or vinyl tiles.

Sheet vinyl, cut to fit but not glued might work. If the floor is flexing, you are likely to pop vinyl tiles loose too.
