What do you do when new cabinets are not stain very good?Dark cabinets with some doors to light and some of the fronts are smeared. Can you restain them without sanding? The finish is shiny.

If shiny it may mean a finish coat over the stain. So you need to sand to raw wood to fix this. What kind of wood. Soft woods need to have a pre-conditioner applied first to allow a more even stain penetration. What kind of stain did you apply?
