Acrylic Caulk over grout?

We had our shower tiled and the installer grouted the corners. There are now linear cracks from top to bottom in both corners. I have read so e of the other forum topics but am wondering if it is possible to put the acrylic Caulk right over the grout. Or if there is a way to remove the grout that is easier than a pick tool.

And that would remedy WHAT exactly?

Not sure what a "pic tool" is for these purposes but you can buy a pretty-effective grout saw for about eight bucks at any home center. You should remove the grout at all of the changes of plane and caulk those sites.

A grout saw (a small, inexpensive handheld tool) works well for small amounts of grout. You wouldn't want to have to remove a ton of grout with it, as it'd take forever. For larger jobs, you'd probably want a multi-tool with a grout half-moon blade. For a pro, a diamond upgrade to the blade.

Caulking over the grout will cause more problems that it solves. You should remove and replace the grout. You can use something like a dremel, rototool, etc. I have a Fein multi-tool that is great but the tool is expensive---like $350 with all the attachements. I used it alot though for all kinds of things and it was one of the best tool purchases I ever made. Rockwell, Craftsman and even Harbor Frieght make inexpensive versions that might work well for occassional use. I think I read in the tool forum here they go for $40is? As I remember the major complaint was some overheating and blades coming loose but then that turned out to be having blades upside down or something. \

An angle grinder might be another possibility. A friend handed me a Ryobi he owned when I was helping him with something and I snickered and groaned. It worked great, was well balanced and not what I expected and I think he paid $40 for that plus a couple bucks for the wheel.

With the cheap Chinese tools it is sometimes the luck of the draw and whether yours was made by a tired adult on Friday night or an energetic three year old on Monday morning. Lots of plastic though.

Safety goggles.

The grout will saw out fairly easy. Caulking over it would just be postponing the inevitable. It should have been caulked from the beginning if you believe what The Tile Council of North America recommends.

I hate it when lazy installers pull off a trick like that.
