What could be the cause of a squeaking noise in my bathtub?

My bathtub makes a rather loud squeaking noise when I get in or lean against the sides.
It started off as a very minor squeak, but now it is rather loud.
I haven't removed the side panels yet. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Some bath tubs are placed with a bedding material between the subfloor and the bottom of the tub. If this bedding material has shrunk over time then the tub could be shifting under load against the bedding. The purpose of the bedding material is to spread out the load from the tub. Large tubs need this extra support. Mine does this.

Or, no bedding material was used, and your weight is causing the tub material to flex. My friend just had a tub replaced in his mother's home. The plumbers were going to just set it and screw it. He happened to have had experience running remodeling jobs for a major contractor in a large city and nixed that and told them that he wanted the tub supported using a mortar base, which they grudgingly set about doing. Anyways, now his mother's tub is nice and solid.

I'm getting ready to install an acrylic shower base. When I set it on the floor and stand in it, it flexes by the sides, away from the bottom supports...so, it's getting a mortar base...otherwise, I think I'd be facing cracks and an eventual repair later down the road.

Just my two cents.

Do you have a warranty on your knees? I think this is where the noise is coming from.
