upgrading lighting in bathroom

So i have been redoing my bathroom for a while. Over the new vanity are 3 recessed lights. I bought 3 more that i was going to run the length of the room over the toilet and main walking space. currently the only lights in the bathroom are over the vanity. (shower is off to the side walled off. well lit in this area). My mother-in-law thinks i should put the 3 new lights 16 inches from the current ones. This would put 6 lights over the vanity. 3 directly on top and 3 set back behind where you would stand.

What do you guys think? If my mother-in-law is right no biggie.(we kinda get a long) I will then get a domed light to install over the toilet.

That's way, way, way to much light.
I only have 6 in my whole 12 X 12 kitchen.
What you have now should be more then enough light.
What size are these lights
