Updating a 20 year old (brown) oak kitchen.

Which would be the best colour and gel stain to use for Oak kitchen cabnits that need to be updated? We are selling our house and the kitchen stands out as a problem. We would like it to look current with the most popular looks out their for kintchens. I understand the process and work involved but I would like advice on product and colour choice.

Updating a 20 year old (brown) oak kitchen.

Just applying a fresh coat will help matters a lot. If the color is bad go with something richer but a similar to the old as possible.
