Travertine vs ceramic

Hi,

I am planning to buy and install a corner soap and shampoo shelf for my bathroom remodeling project. I have material choice: travertine or ceramic. A shelf made from travertine looks much better, but my concern is how travertine resists water and moisture overtime.

I would greatly appreciate any opinion, suggestion, experience.

Thanks.

The travertine will need to be sealed a few times each year.
The ceramic requires nothing.

Ron,

Thanks a lot for your answer. This is exactly that I wanted to know.
I'll go with ceramic.
