tiling above an un-level countertop

Anyone got any tips on how to install an 8-foot row of 4" tiles above a bathroom counter that is, unfortunately, not level. The difference in the height of a level line from one end to the other is about 3/8" which is difficult to gain with only one row.

Would it be easier to just try to level the countertop?

Thanks

Yes

Otherwise the first row (or only row) of tile needs to be cut accordingly to make up the difference.
