Tile to formica

Have an older condo with Formica counter & backsplash. Two questions please,
Is there an easy way to remove existing Formica without damaging drywall behind?
Can tile be applied over existing Formica? Thanks

Tile to formica

Is it just a thin sheet stuck to the wall, or is it just a short piece glued to partical board?

You will damage the drywall---but patching and priming will take care of that easily enough--you are going to tile the area,so the patch work need not be pretty, just flat---
