thermofoil cabinets

I have a customer with white thermofoil cabinets. She spilled something hot on one door and it bubbled the thermofoil. I tried to smooth/reglue with a heat gun but it only made things worse. Any suggestions??

No manufacturers name anywhere on the cabinets, so replacing the door does not seem to be an option. Can't find anything locally to match.

thermofoil cabinets

"Thermofoil" cabinets are nothing more than low-end particle board (MDF) with a vinyl cladded exterior surface. Once the vinyl has been scalded and the vinyl warped that's pretty much the end of that product.

I can see where a heat gun wouldn't be the answer.

Those things are everywhere and I would think a replacement door could be located but as with a lot of things, the color may not be a perfect match over time.

She didn't buy the cabinets?
How about the builder, any chance a builder could be contacted to find out where the cabinets came from?

I found a close match at Lowes, but the hinges required too much rework to work. She is the second owner, and the builder is gone.

try looking HARD in the base sink cab for manufacturer label. Look at out of the way spots like back of face frame high ...hidden by sink... use a dental mirror.

or take the door around to local supply houses that may have worked with
builders in the area. One of them might ID and help find any easy replacement.

Problem:
there are 27 different whites out there. get samples and make the HO sign off...

rots of ruck...
