Suntouch Heat Mat and Kerdi in Shower

I want to heat the floor and seat area in my new shower and Suntouch tech support said that the Suntouch heat element must be embedded in the same thinset that holds the tile which means the heat wire is ABOVE the Kerdi.

I had planned to embed the wire into the morter UNDER the Kerdi because it would seem the water that gets through the tile floor could more easily reach the drain. How do you pros do it? Can the Suntouch wire be hot glued to the Kerdi mat before thin setting?
