Stand-up shower in a 5.5 x 7ft bathroom?

We recently bought an older 3BR 1BA 2-story home. Of course the bathroom is upstairs with the bedrooms so we'd like to put in a small bathroom on the first floor. I've taken measurements and the biggest we can go is 5.5 x 7ft - thats the inside dimensions after the framing and drywall is up.

I know this is plenty of space for a half bath but ideally I would like to stick a stand-up shower in the corner. I've worked with pre-existing bathrooms quite a bit before but I've never made one from scratch. I'm trying to think of the layout as far as space goes and I'm just not sure if we can fit a shower in.

I should probably go to my local home improvement store and check out the dimensions of their smallest shower and then sketch up a drawing to see how it looks. Do you think we can squeeze a shower, toilet and small vanity in a 5.5 x 7ft area without making it akwardly tight? Thanks for any feedback.

- John

In a room that size, you can have a tub/shower or a shower. Just not enough room for both.

My 1st floor bathroom is 5x7
It has a toilet, full size tub/shower & a 30" vanity
So with a stand up shower you would actually have more room
