should the kitchen sink base be as wide as the window it is under ?

yeah, i spose it doesn't. but it seems to me that if the base was about the same width as the window, it would look more uniform.

Perhaps it would,but I've never had anyone bring that up as an issue.---Many windows are rather narrow above the sink--so that would mean not enough room for the sink----

well. i guess then, my window is rather wide. about 44". i wanted a nice view of my back yard. plus let more light in.

the reason i asked = i didn't know if they made base cabs that wide. but now i know they they make em up to 60".

sink base


Sink bases are the most waste of space in a kitchen. You want a base just large enough to hold your sink and no wasted space. Use the additional space to make the adjacent cabinets larger. That creates a better use of space, especially in a small kitchen where space is precious. So, for your 44" of space, you'd do a 36" sink base if you're using a standard 33" sink, and try to get that 8" into other usable space.
