Shower wall, 1/2 glassblock?

Looking for help with the concept of one shower wall that would be a support standard wood structure, with waterproof backer, but only about 3 feet. Want to put a 3 to 3 1/2 foot glass-block component on top to finish the wall. Need light and want an open area on the top to let air in.

The glass block would not have support on one edge and the top would have a gap. Can it be done safely?

Thanks for any and all suggestions and ideas.

Nick
