shower pan on concrete floor

my basement has a concrete shower, walls and floor. it is painted now and we would like to tile the floor and walls. the drain is located towards one of the walls, not centered. i need to raise the area on the far side from the drain and raise the actual area around the drain about 1/2 so someone won't slip into the drain area. not sure what to use of how to do it. this will be my first experience and just don't want to mess it up too badly. any ideas are appreciated

Can you post some pics? That may get the ball rolling. It is sometimes hard to picture a situation with just a description.

Where are you located? If you post a picture we can help--I suspect you may need a new drain set to make this happen.--Mike---
