Shower floor

Hello, I have a tiled shower floor that was improperly placed. Liner was put down, and thin set was used to level off entire shower floor. It was floated improperly, and then the tiles were laid. I chipped up all the tile, and now I have the thin set left. Can I take out all the high spots of thinset, then float hydraulic cement. Or do I have to take everything out to the subfloor.

Do you know what a shower pan and the pre-slope are? You can check into it, but what you want to do is have about an 8' step up from the floor into your shower. On the inside of this, you will pour a pre-slope. This is a concrete type material minimum 1 1/4" thick. On top of this goes your waterproof membrane, the another layer of the the concrete type material. On top of this goes your tile.

If you don't have something like this, then you need to start over.

If you know it was done wrong, pull it out and do it right.
