shower drain screw broke off

depends on the material of the screw and what it is screwed into. My first thought is, is there any thing left that you can get pliers on?? Usually not. Next thought would be an 'easy out' screw extractor. It requires drilling a hole in the screw just smaller than the extractor. Last, drill out the screw being careful not to damage the threads in the part, then rethread with a tap.
