Shower ceiling tiling

Do you think its ok to tile the shower walls and leave the ceiling with drywall? If I decide to tile the ceiling I would use kerdi along with the rest of the shower. Above the shower is the attic which has faced insulation. Can I install kerdi on the ceiling or would that be considered a double vapor barrier?

BY far more common to not have tile on the ceiling and just sheetrock.

Im just worried about water and moisture causing damage to the drywall. Should I use green board and a moisture resistant primer and paint?

No, you should not use green board on that ceiling, unless...... Green board requires ceiling joists that are 12" o.c. I bet you don't have that and I'll bet most drywall people and builders don't know that.

Regular wall board will work fine. I think the best type of paint to use on the walls and ceiling in a bathroom is Zinsser's Perma White.

Tiling the ceiling is a good thing, but not absolutely necessary.

And why would you not want to use green board on the ceiling?

I just wrote why, read again. (Hint; 12" o.c.)
