removing sheet of vinyl wallboard from the 60s
I have finally almost removed all of the vinyl or whatever it is from the wall except a few pieces that refuse to scrape off. does anyone know how to get this off or have any recommendations for what to do to clean up the adhesive off the wall so we can paint? should we cut out the drywall/plaster or whatever and redo? could we tile over it? if we do tile, do we have to get the wall clean and smooth first, and if so how? thanks for any ideas. this is on the wall behind the stove and refrigerator.

I personally would take it all the way down to the bones, unless you can hide the lower portion with Wainscoting. As for tiling, if this is in a Bathroom, you should use Durock, or Georgia Pacific's Denshield.
