Refinishing Kitchen Cabinets
I want to redo my kitchen cabinets. Currently, they are painted glossy white. I really want a cherry finish. Is there any way this can be done?

There are probably two approaches:
1) strip all the paint, and refinish them. 2) faux paint them. The problem with approach #1 is if you don't know for sure that you have stain grade wood, then you might not. When factories build cabinets, they can use inferior (mismatched and ugly) wood if they know it will be painted. I've seen some faux painted wood grain that fooled me. Might be difficult if the cabinet doors and drawers have a detailed profile. |

Painted cabinets usually use a paint grade wood. If they are even wood. Some companies use MDF for the doors. What you have will determine the options. Ron |
