Quick question about Slide in Oven/stove opening between cabinets?

Hey guys I have someone installing cabinets.

For an Island we have a standard 30 inch (29 7/8") slide in oven

I was just wondering how big the opening should be? I measured about 31.25 inches. Isn't that a little big?

30". Otherwise the flanges that cover the cabinets won't do it well, and there will be too much space between the range and cabinets on the sides.

Thank u.

So just to confirm: a 30 inch opening would be better for the Slide in Range? that would leave a 1/16 gap on each side since the Range is 29 7/8 inches

They haven't put in the granite yet, but the cabinets are spaced 31 1/4 inches

All slide ins are designed to go into a standard 30" range space. Be sure your stone fabricator understands how to create the flat edge adjacent to the range that it will need to fit snugly. That's not usually an issue if you are getting a pencil or roundover edge, but it will be an issue with a more decorative edge like an ogee.

You can have the installer add 5/8 fillers on each side of the range and the counter top should be cut to fit.
