Possible to cut countertops?
I really want to redo my kitchen but I don't have much to spend being we are a single income family. What bothers me most about the kitchen is the layout. It's mostly a L style but then has the fridge and stove on the opposite side of the long side of the L. I would really like to trim down the short side of the L and move the fridge there, then add a short counter and a few cupboards next to the stove, where the fridge was.
Does that make sense? I could include pics if that helps! Question being, is there a way to trim cupboards and add a new side? Or is this not even worth thinking about? Thanks |
We will need pictures---anything is possible---however some things are not practical---

Yup. Need a BIG hammer too.... |
Lots of potential complications with what you want to do. Trimming a cupboard would be the least of them. Until you can afford a real renovation, I think you should live with what you have.

ok thanks everyone for the advice, sounds like it's definitely not going to be an easy task.
On second thought how hard would it be to build new cabinets to match the old ones? My father in law is rather handy with woodworking and has made several items of furniture in our house. Here are some pics of the current kitchen and one of what I wish it was like roughly. Thanks everyone! |
