Omnigrip adhesive for tiling kitchen countertop?

Hi,

I am working on my first tiling project. I am going to install 4-1/4 ceramic tiles on my kitchen countertop. I have installed 3/4 inch exterior plywood then added hardiboard attached with adhesive and hardiboard screws (per suggestion from Home Depot employee).

Also, Home Depot advised Omnigrip adhesive to install the tiles, said it would be easier for a beginner. Would thinset be better?

I live in the desert so humidity is not a problem, just the opposite.

If you look on the dark band above your post you will see a "search" button. Plug in "Omnigrip" and you will see what others think of this product.

Do yourself a favor, take Blondesense's advise and then return that product to the store and get yourself some thinset.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I had opened the container. I will donate it to Habitat for Humanity. Will now look for a good thinset product.
