I am considering buying a furniture style vanity with a travertine stone countertop: http://www.modernbathroom.com/bathroom-vanities/virtu-usa-raffaello-60-single-vanity-set-dark-espresso__ls-2135.aspx
However, it does not come with a backsplash. Their suggestion is to go to a stone store and try to match the travertine. This would be a master bath - is it possible NOT to have a backsplash? Any advice out there? I'm not a fan of the look of tile behind it - especially since there won't be any other tile used in the room. Thanks!
BS not a necesity, but it does reduce stains on paint/wallpaper. Generally very hard to match something at a different vendor, but something to compliment is easier. As for tile, there are very large tile stones available that don't end up looking like tile. And tile is one of the most versatile decorating things available. You are limited only by imagination. Mosaics can paint a picture behind that piece of furniture.
