New Formica counter top......
Well long story short. My dad is a licensed builder and has used this guy on 2 other jobs which both turned out awesome! My job in my new house has turned into a train wreck though. When I called him last night to compalin he said "that is just how formica is." Then he was blaming it on the name of formica we chose which is Formica..."

Here are pictures, tell me what you think.

FYI he has not been paid. He still wants 1300 as he sees no issues in the quality of work..(meeting with him tonight) Just wanted some input!!

Pictures of mine...

I also wanted to add these bands broke SEVERAL times from the idiots installing them and by dropping one of them in the corner so that is why the bands look the way they do..... Should not be something I need to live with.

Laminate tops
I agree with you on the quality of you laminate job.. Looks like they could have done better.. especially when you compare to the 15 year old tops...

I'm not laminate top expert, but it appears to me the incorrect router bits were used, could be wrong. as to quality of work, I'd would have to laughed and say, "you're kidding, you did this? I thought one of your kids did (or grandkids as the case might be)."

for what it's worth the type of counter top is laminate, the brand is formica. formica was the brand that first made this type of finish popular hence most people refer to any of this type as formica. kind of like asking for a skill saw when you mean a circular saw. Skill was the first to popularize the circular saw.

we had a new guy come out and measure and he just laughed at the whole entire thing. Standing back it looks awesome. But I do not think I could even accept this for cheap or free as I have a very expensive kitchen.

Yes as soon as water gets in between those sheets it will bubble and bye bye counter top! Do not pay, make him fix it.

Take it out and start over, he cut it to short. If he left a lip and used a router bit it would have been clean like the other counters you show.
