Need tile suggestions for a backsplash / low window behind sink

Our kitchen is finally coming together. Here you can see the counter and sink mocked up. As you can see the window is relatively low. I didn't put trim around it yet for that exact reason. We'd like to do a tile backsplash since it's a "splash zone".

We're doing a relatively small tile (maybe a 2" tile), and I'd like it to go as close to the window as possible.

Can I tile over the window frame?
What about a 90 degree turn and a 1/2 tile or so laying flat on top of the window sill? Is that a bad idea?

Any other suggestions? I'm open to ideas.

This will be my first attempt at a backsplash...

Maybe glass pencil tile mosaic. It's smallish and it looks like you could get at least 2-3 rows of it between sink and window. If you do glass make sure you research what to use to adhere it. Some thinsets supposedly aren't good on glass.

Any ideas on the window? Should I tile up to the window and then put the trim over the tiles?

I'm thinking a border tile to picture frame the window so you would have a temination point for the other tiles over the counter.

You mean run the tile up over and around the edge of the window so it goes in the 1" or so that is there?

Pick one that sits just above the sink (leave room for a bead of silicone) and just covers the edge od the window frame.
PS looks like you did not set the sink in a bed of silicone when you set it on the counter top. There's a big gap there.

Nothing is attached in the picture, the countertops and sink are just hanging out on top of the cabinets - that's why it looks all out of whack.

So we're in agreement here - tile up to the edge of the window. The only thing I'm fuzzy on is are you saying make a 90 degree turn and tile the 1" or so horizontally inside the window frame? Or just cut it off once I reach the frame?

There may be no cutting needed.
You first form a border all around the window, not in what amounts to the jambs, instead of using a window casing, then run your tiles.

For some reason I'm not following. Are you saying tile to the red or blue line?

You have a couple of choices but imo the cleanest result is to tile to the red line, building out the window frame box flush to the depth of the tile, then installing the casing on top of the tile.
