Kitchen Layout suggestions needed

Ok, I have had the hardest time trying to figure out the best layout for my kitchen. Below is a picture of what it looks like. The door on the far left will be filled in to allow more cabinets and such. Right wall backs to hallway/living room.

I would suggest that you go to IKEA's web site, download the kitchen planner, play around with it a little bit, post a plan, and then we'll take it from there.

No windows ??

Not sure what you are looking for, but it is usual to have counter space on both sides of a range. And I see a mirco cabinet on the right by itself. I would put that over the range and relocate or add space to the right of the range.

Scuba dave the window is at my back. I have been playing around with the ikea planner and will post what i have a little later.

I would move the range and hood over at least 12" so there would be an upper cabinet and counter top and base cabinet on the right. I would move the sink towards the D/W and have a square corner where the sink was. You didn't give any dimensions or say how much more wall you're picking up in removing the door.

The software planners are great
The one I have (older) lets me see a 3D version
My last house I moved the sink so it was by the window
This house I removed the West windows - built a garage
So the sink will be moving (I think) to face the sunroom/back yard windows

Is there an eating area by the windows ? No cabinets etc ?

yeah the ikea planner isnt made for mac though and my mac is the only internet capable computer. I do have the ikea planner on my other laptop but both the ethernet port and wifi card went out. I will try and get it on a disc or something so I can post it.

I'd move the sink further down the wall and straighten the cabinets. I'd center (more or less) the stove on the wall it's on, and I'd move the fridge closer to the stove.
