Heck, I dunno.... we just use WillieT and AndyGump!

Seriously though.... try Google Sketchup. It's free, although there's a learning curve.... but they have good tutorials.

Kitchen Design tool


Graph paper and a pencil. It's analog, but it works. If you're doing this for a customer, you need the pretty pictures. As a homeowner, you just need to know it fits.
Once you know exactly the setup you want and the cabinets you've decided upon, the kitchen company will do a rendition for you. The ones I deal with don't charge for the service. I think the big boxes do.
