Kitchen cabinets to metal studs

I was hired to build a "kitchen" in a commercial type building for photographic purposes. I built a wall off with 2x4 studs at 16"oc. The problem is the other wall in the "L" is block with metalstuds set at 24oc covered with 1/2" drywall. Is there a good way to hang the uppers to the Metal studs or should I just build a "normal" wall to hang from. Thanks for any imput.

i would have put plywood backerboards before the drywall went up so there was no guessing. now i'd do my best to hang the cabinets off the metal studs, if your that worried put some toggle bolts in.

When you say block with metal studs do you mean full studs or hat channel? If hat channel I tapcon through to the block. In all reality you should remove drywall install blocking and install cabinets. It will be behind the cabinets anyways.

Kitchen cabinets to metal studs

Thanks for the suggestions. My main goal was to do as little alterations to the exsisting structures because it is a rented space and I did not want to get involved with the owner. What I did was built a regular stud wall next to exsisting and fastened it to the drywall with toggle bolts and cleats between the studs in several places. I was worried about holding power because of storage in uppers and a micro mounted on said wall. Thanks again. Antlerdancer
